New Delhi: India has recorded a marginal improvement of one spot to 117th position in the latest rankings released by the world governing body of football. The senior National team, which is without a coach at the moment, is ranked 22nd among Asian teams, a loss of one spot, with 379 points.
It is the highest ranked team in South Asia ahead of Sri Lanka, which gained 10 places to 135th position after making it to the final of the AFC Challenge Cup in Bangladesh.
Brazil continues to lead the rankings ahead of Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The United States is proving itself to be a force to reckon with, climbing one spot to fourth place. Spain, Mexico and France, who all gained a position each, are in the next three places. Portugal climbed two spots to be joint eight. The big loser among the big guns was Argentina, which fell four places from fourth spot. England dropped a place to be ranked 10th. PTI
