Indian team to be announced today

Mumbai: The selectors, captain Rahul Dravid and coach Greg Chappell will meet here on Thursday to pick the squad for the first part of the West Indies tour. Chappell has said that chances would be given to players like Virender Sehwag and Mohammed Kaif, but with a rider that it would not be endless.

As has been the practice in recent times, M. S. Dhoni would be the only wicketkeeper in the squad. The feeling is that the team can always fall back on Dravid or Robin Uthappa to don the gloves.

With the 2007 World Cup to be played in the West Indies, the selectors are to request the BCCI president Sharad Pawar for an additional (16th) player, a seamer. — Special Correspondent
