CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Wednesday that the Government was promoting technical education so that Haryana could emerge as the Number One State in the next four years. Laying the foundation stone of the Technical Education Department building in Sector 4 at Panchkula near here, Mr. Hooda said that in this competitive age, only countries which imparted quality technical education would become prosperous. He said that with the advancement of technology the world had shrunk and only technical education could generate employment for the youth. The youth should not run after white-collar jobs but do some technical courses so that they could start their own ventures independently. Mr. Hooda said that the budget for technical education had been increased from Rs.29 crores to Rs.60 crores in the current financial year. The placement percentage in the technical institutes had increased from 37 per cent to 60 per cent and in the near future it would touch 100 per cent. He disclosed that only technically qualified persons would be able to get employment in the new industries coming up in the State. While inaugurating the staff colony of HARCO Bank employees, he hoped that there would be better coordination among the employees that would bring in more efficiency in their working. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Haryana Staff Selection Commission building in Sector Two. He also laid the foundation stone of the building of the Pet Animal Medical Centre-cum-Teaching Hospital which would be constructed in Sector Three. Mr. Hooda also inaugurated the newly-constructed building of the Directorate of Ayurveda in Sector Three. Meanwhile, in a brief chat with media persons, Mr. Hooda said that he had not received the report relating to the retrenched employees so far. He also asserted that there was no bird flu in Haryana. Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, who is also the local MLA, thanked the Chief Minister for giving such developmental projects to Panchkula. He hoped that in future also he would give such projects and help in making Panchkula one of the leading districts in the country. The Agriculture Minister, Harmohinder Singh Chatha, the Health Minister, Kartar Devi, the Minister of State for Cooperation and Archaeology, Meena Mandal, Parliamentary Secretaries Dilu Ram and Krishana Pandit,and the Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman, N.L. Poonia, were among those present.
