Govt. to open banquet halls in tourist complexes

Special Correspondent

To help people in organising public functions at economical rates

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Tourism Department has evolved a new scheme of providing banquet hall facilities in its tourist complexes at economical rates, the Haryana Minister of State for Tourism, Kiran Choudhary, said here on Wednesday.

She said that the new scheme, besides generating revenue for the complexes, would provide people with better opportunities and venues for organizing public functions and celebrations.

A banquet hall would soon be constructed in Baya Tourist Complex in Bhiwani and it would be completed within one year.

Mrs. Choudhary said that private banquet halls were flourishing all around in small towns and cities and these were charging huge sums for organizing various kinds of functions.

There was an urgent need to develop such facilities at tourist complexes which would help people in smoothly organizing public functions at very economical rates. She announced that such facilities would be developed at all tourist complexes in the State.

She said that Haryana had earned great name and fame in the field of highway tourism during the first decade and a half after coming into existence as a separate State in 1966.

Eco-tourism would be developed along side the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal highway.

A new tourism policy would also be formulated.
