JAIPUR : A Japanese woman has accused the manager of a guesthouse in Pushkar, a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan, of raping and robbing her of Rs. 54,000 during her visit to the town earlier this month. She claimed she was raped after being drugged. The woman faxed her complaint from Agra to the Superintendent of Police of Ajmer late on Tuesday evening. The police have registered a first information report against four persons on charges of rape, cheating and breach of trust. The police said they would obtain the victim's statement before making the arrests. The Japanese Embassy in New Delhi has been informed and a police team left for Agra where the Japanese tourist is now staying on Wednesday to record her statement. This is the third case of rape of a foreign tourist in Rajasthan within a year. A 47-year-old German tourist was abducted and raped by two auto-rickshaw drivers in Jodhpur in May 2005. The rapists were sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast track Sessions court within a month. On March 20 this year, a 26-year-old German research student was raped in a hotel in Alwar by the son of a senior police officer of Orissa. The fast track court sentenced the accused, an MBA student who was travelling with the victim, to seven years rigorous imprisonment on April 12.
