Classical music fest from May 1

Bangalore: A weeklong classical music festival, Sri Shankara Jayanti Sangeethotsava, is being organised by Sri Tyagaraja Gana Sabha from May 1. The festival will feature vocal, instrumental and Talavadya performances. Classical music enthusiasts will be able to witness a plethora of rare musical performances.

Renowned mridangam artiste A.V. Anand from Sangeeta Kala Shiromani, Bangalore, will preside over the event Sri Vani Education Centre, Rajajinagar 2nd Stage.

Besides classical music concerts planned for the evenings, pujas, homas and Devi stutis have been arranged in the morning sessions.

The festival will culminate with the "Kala Bhushana" award ceremony. Artistes excelling in various fields of music will be honoured. A special award will be conferred up on Mr. Anand.
