Sculptor robbed near Rajarajeshwarinagar

Autorickshaw driver, three others allegedly assaulted him

BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver and his three accomplices stabbed a sculptor and robbed him of Rs. 5,000 in cash, a bronze Shiva idol and a wristwatch in Kengeri police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said Neelakanta V. Bhat, a sculptor and a resident of Marathalli, had gone to Rajarajeshwarinagar to deliver a bronze Shiva idol to a customer. After the customer complained of some defect in the idol, Bhat was returning home with the idol.

Around 10.30 a.m., Bhat boarded an autorickshaw and asked the driver to drop him at Rajarajeshwarinagar arch. After travelling some distance, three others got into the autorickshaw.

On reaching the arch, the driver did not stop the vehicle and sped away. The driver took Bhat to an isolated area on Pattanagere Road, off Mysore Road.

The driver and his three accomplices stabbed Bhat with a knife and robbed him of cash and other articles. The Kengeri police have registered a case.

Woman robbed

A youth threw chilli powder on a woman's face and robbed her of a gold chain estimated at Rs. 8,000 in Koramangala police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said that around 9.45 p.m., Ramya Gosh was standing in front of her house on 1st D Cross, 8th Block, Koramangala, and was speaking on her mobile phone.

A youth threw chilli powder on her face and snatched her chain. He tried to snatch her phone. The Koramangala police have registered a case.

Gold chain snatched

A man put his hands through an open window and snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 60,000 from a housewife in Vidyaranyapura police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. The Vidyaranyapura police have registered a case.
