Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a picture of elan at his 25-minute press conference in Kochi on Wednesday. Dr. Singh touched upon a number of topics, taking the general level of discussion to a higher plane. Not for him the rough and tumble of politics, and the Prime Minister refused to be drawn into any controversy vis-a-vis the relationship between the Congress and the Left. With a calm, collected and cool presence, Dr. Singh won many admirers among the audience of mediapersonnel, who would for long cherish the moments. This was in stark contrast with the press meet that followed when Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was fire and brimstone and went hammer and tongs against the Opposition for what he perceived as its "negative attitude to Kerala's development."
