This Day That Age
The Ceylon Government has decided to suspend capital punishment for a period of three years as an experimental measure. After the three-year period, the position will be reviewed with a view to abolishing capital punishment altogether. Nineteen prisoners, awaiting execution of their death sentence in the island's jails, will stand to benefit immediately by the decision.
