I was surprised to read the editorial "Next stop, constituent assembly" (April 20) exhorting Karan Singh, India's special envoy, to deliver a message to King Gyanendra that his time is up; he should either step back and allow the political parties to lead the country or be swept away by the tide of protests. No doubt, the King should make way for democracy to flourish in Nepal again. But does India have the right to tell him to do so? Will it not amount to interference in the affairs of a foreign country?
