Letters to the Editor
This refers to the scuffle between mediapersons and the supporters of the Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, outside the Prime Minister's residence. The behaviour of the Imam and his supporters was highly objectionable, and insulting to the entire Muslim community.
M. Shamsul Arifin,
Kasim Sait,
It is not expected of a religious head to lose patience on the slightest provocation. It is the job of mediapersons to provoke people into answering their queries. The Imam's behaviour presented him in a poor light. He should apologise for his indecent behaviour. So should the mediaperson, who is reported to have used impolite language.
Ahmad Rais Siddiqi,
