Probe sought into firing

Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) on Thursday urged the National Human Rights Commission to direct the Union Home Ministry and the Mizoram Government to order a judicial probe into the April 15 firing by Border Security Force personnel at Bhulanchuri village in Lunlei district. A Chakma tribal was killed and four others were injured in the "indiscriminate" firing, it said.

The ACHR demanded that the Mizoram Government provide free treatment to the injured and compensation to the kin of the deceased as well as to the injured.
