IT career involves "hard work"

Tata Consultancy Services CEO S. Ramadorai opens summer computer training workshop

CHENNAI: A career in information technology involves rigorous training and hard work, and if one is committed to this, the rewards are plenty, S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, Tata Consultancy Services, has said.

Inaugurating "InsighT," a summer computer training workshop in Modern Senior Secondary School, Nanganallur, Mr. Ramadorai said to become a successful professional, one should have team spirit, communication skills and etiquette.

The workshop would help them get a glimpse into the IT sector and enable them to make up their minds about their career or learn how to join the areas that excited them.

Ravi Vishwanathan, Vice-President, Operations, TCS, said the current generation could leverage technology well. India was respected globally because of its process discipline in the IT sector. Students should also imbibe this.

Mala Ramadorai, founder of Maitree, urged students to change constantly.

The workshop will teach students C, C++, Oracle, Visual Basic, HTML and XML, all part of the CBSE syllabus for computer science students.

The next year, it will cover students belonging to other disciplines too.

Ravi Shah, Vice-President, TCS, spoke about the programme. S. Veeraraghavan, president, Modern Senior Secondary School, presented the annual report.
