Life term for journalist

COLOMBO: A Maldivian journalist working for a newspaper which advocates democracy in the archipelago has been sentenced to life in prison after police allegedly found him with a small quantity of heroin, his Editor said on Thursday. Abdullah Saeed, the reporter with the Opposition-backed Minivan Daily, was sentenced on Wednesday inMale. He was arrested in October for alleged narcotics possession, Editor Aminath Najeeb said. — AP
