Centre: SIMI an unlawful body

New Delhi: The Centre on Friday declared the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) an unlawful association.

This notification was issued by the Registrar, Unlawful Activities (prevention) Tribunal under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The Tribunal, comprising Justice B.N. Chaturvedi of the Delhi High Court, was constituted by the Centre for adjudicating whether or not there was sufficient cause for declaring SIMI an unlawful association. — UNI
