88,000 to take CET on May 9, 10

25,000 to take the test in Bangalore

  • Students can verify that question paper packets are not tampered with
  • Question papers to be despatched only a day before the test

Bangalore: The Common Entrance Test (CET) 2006 will be held on May 9 and 10 at 190 examination centres across the State.

The CET Cell has introduced several new measures this year, making it possible among other features, for students to verify for themselves that the question paper packets have not been tampered with.

So far, 88,000 students have applied to appear for the entrance test for professional courses and close to 25,000 will be writing it at 50 examination centres in Bangalore.

The Department of Higher Education is taking all possible precautions, keeping in mind the allegations of question paper leak during the postgraduate medical entrance test recently. In the case of the CET, these reforms were announced even earlier.

Just before the CET begins, the invigilators are required to call at random any two candidates to examine the question paper packets before their seal is broken and they are opened.

The invigilator then has to get the two students sign on the space provided on the packets to confirm that there has been no tampering.

The security measures to prevent leakage begin much before the question paper packets reach the examination centres. This year, the despatch of question papers starts only a day before the test.

When the packets are handed over, three government officials, designated by the CET Cell Special Officer, have to check and certify that the seals on the packages are intact and have not been tampered with.

This certificate has to be counter-signed by the Deputy Commissioner and the District Treasury Officer.
