Free coaching for KPSC examination

Service tax

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. customers would be required to pay service tax (including education cess) at 12.24 per cent against the earlier rate of 10.2 per cent as per the Finance Bill 2006. The revision is applicable to all the prepaid and postpaid services of BSNL, including PCOs.

Dance festival

The Shambavi School of Dance, in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture, has organised a two-day dance festival to celebrate the International Dance Day in the city. The festival will commence on April 28.

The festival begins with workshops on various disciplines that will be held from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The workshops will be followed by performances from 6.30 p.m. at Ravindra Kalakshetra.

Applications invited

The Karnataka Parents' Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens has invited applications for diploma courses in special education and mental retardation (two-year course), autism and specific learning disability (one-year course), and integrated education (one-year course). Vaccination

In commemoration of World Veterinarian's Day, the Karuna Animal Welfare Association of Karnataka, in association with Veterinary College, KVAFSU, and the Pet Practitioners' Association, will organise a free anti-rabies vaccination programme for dogs on April 29. An interactive programme with animal owners on responsible ownership will be held at the Karuna office on Kasturba Road. For details, call 22860205
