`DMK will lift ban on recruitment'

Staff Reporter

The last leg of campaign in Tirunelveli district

TIRUNELVELI : Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who came to power by giving fake promises in 2001 and pursued anti-people policies, should be unseated through ballot, DMK president M. Karunanidhi said.

Campaigning in support of Democratic Progressive Alliance candidates at various places in Tirunelveli district on Friday, Mr. Karunanidhi said ``if the DMK is voted to power, over 3 lakh vacancies in various government departments will be filled and the ban on recruitment revoked methodically.''

Thousands of people from wayside habitations received Mr. Karunanidhi, who had to address the people at some of the ``unscheduled spots."
