HYDERABAD: Three companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed at vulnerable points in Visakhapatnam-I Assembly constituency to ensure free and fair polling for the by-elections taking place on Monday. Also, a temporary ban has been imposed on sale and consumption of liquor for four days in the constituency lasting till April 24 midnight. A close watch is being maintained on all the restaurants in the light of complains that these may be used to stock or consume liquor. Round-the-clock patrolling has commenced, especially in the areas which reported incidents during the polling last time. These are some of the special steps taken to ensure foolproof polling on Monday, going by the report of the Election Commission's enquiry committee on the irregularities committed last time. A senior official said no major complaint was received so far from any political party. A total of 1.32 lakh voters of whom 66,442 are women, will exercise their franchise on Monday. In all, 14 candidates are in the fray.
