Traders' 5-day hunger strike from today

Signature campaign to be launched

NEW DELHI: Traders who have been agitating in protest against the sealing of shops in residential areas of the Capital will begin a five-day relay hunger strike on Sunday.

In a statement, Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT) secretary-general Praveen Khandelwal said the relay- hunger strike would start at Dabri Chowk on Pankha Road.

The traders will also launch a city-wide signature campaign, he added.

Ordinance demanded

The agitating traders are demanding that the Union Government either promulgate an Ordinance or introduces a Bill in Parliament to regularise the commercial establishments in residential areas of the Capital.

The signature campaign will be launched from the Main Market at Rajouri Garden on Sunday which will be submitted to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
