MANGALORE: Manjunathaswamy Temple at Kadri here, which is believed to be 2,000 years old, is ready for "Brahmakalashabhisheka," "mahadanda rudrabhisheka" and "maha rudra yaga." Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, A.J. Shetty, managing trustee of the temple and president of the "Brahmakalashotsava" committee, said the 10-day religious event would begin on Monday.
`Kalashotsava'
The "Brahmakalashotsava" will be performed on April 30 at 7 a.m. The silver chariot festival, "Kerala nruthya bali," and "maha ranga puja" will be performed on the same day. Vishvesha Thirta Swamiji of Pejawar Math will deliver the benediction address.
`Rudrabhisheka'
"Mahadanda rudrabhisheka" and "maha rudra yaga" will be performed on May 2 at 4 a.m. Derebail Vittaladasa tantri will conduct them in the presence of Raja Sandhyanathji, matadhipathi of Kadri. Vice-president of the committee Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said "chandika yaga," "navaka pradhana homa," "dikpala homa," "mrutyunjaya homa" and other "homas" would be performed. Vishwothama Thirta Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Math will inaugurate "chaturveda parayana'' on Monday.
Programmes
Cultural programmes in the evening include a Yakshagana "talamaddale" on "Gadhayudda,'' devotional songs by Vidyabhooshana, "harikathe" by Bhadragiri Achyutadasa, Yakshagana on "Shivakarunya'' and "Shambhavi Vijaya," saxophone concert by Kadri Gopalnath and a Yakshagna "gombeyata."
