Gulbarga City Corporation Commissioner accused of forcing postponement of meeting

  • S.P. Mudhol accused of misleading the district administration
  • A meeting on water scarcity first held on April 15

GULBARGA: The former Minister and senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader S.K. Kanta on Sunday threatened to launch an indefinite dharna in front of the administrative office of the Gulbarga City Corporation from Monday demanding disciplinary action against the corporation Commissioner S.P. Mudhol for providing misleading information about the non-availability of officials for attending the scheduled review meeting of the drinking water scarcity at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Saturday resulting in the postponement of the meeting.

Mr. Kanta told presspersons here that the Commissioner had misled himself and Deputy Commissioner Anjum Parvez by stating that the officials in-charge of the water supply were not available on Saturday since they had to participate in a meeting convened by the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWS&DB) in Hubli and requested the Deputy Commissioner to postpone the meeting. Based on a request by the Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner postponed the meeting, Mr. Kanta said.

He said none of the officials in-charge of water supply in the city had gone to Hubli on Saturday and the Commissioner gave wrong information to avoid facing the review meeting, he alleged. Mr. Kanta said the Saturday's meeting was a follow-up of the April 15 meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner to review water scarcity in the city.

On April 15, several decisions were taken to ease the drinking water scarcity in the city and directions were issued to the corporation Commissioner to implement them.
