Two policemen hurt in landmine blasts in A.P.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two policemen were injured in a series of three landmine blasts in Visakhapatnam agency area on Sunday morning.

Both Rama Rao, 25, a homeguard, and constable Venkata Rao, 28, are out of danger as they were rushed in time by the district police to a corporate hospital here by helicopter.

The blasts were triggered at 7.30 a.m. by Maoists who noticed the police combing the Pedapadu forest area in G.K. Veedhi mandal of the district which comes under the guerrilla zone of the Maoists.

Police parties have been scanning for landmines in different routes of the mandal and have recovered nine landmines in the area so far.

District Superintendent of Police V.V. Srinivasa Rao said that both policemen were out of danger.
