Pondicherry: All-India Congress Committee general secretary B.K. Hariprasad has urged party rebel candidates to withdraw from the electoral battle by Monday, failing which they would face expulsion from the party. Addressing mediapersons here, he said efforts to bring round the rebels were still on. The party would not let down any one and their interests would be taken care of, he said. (Monday is last date for withdrawal of nominations in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions) Asserting that the Congress-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) would form the next government in Pondicherry, Mr. Hariprasad said as Tamil Nadu was concerned the Congress would support the DMK in government formation.
Manifesto
The party's election manifesto would be released on Monday, he said. Asked who would be the Chief Minister in the event of formation of the government by the Congress in Pondicherry, he the AICC General Secretary said that the elected MLAs legislators would decide it after the elections. Mr. Hariprasad said Congress president Hariprasad said that AICC leader Sonia Gandhi would address a public meeting at Uppalam on Tuesday (April 25) The Prime Minister is also likely to might also visit Pondicherry or Karaikal to address a meetings separately.
