Pondicherry: The Uzhaippali Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam contesting two seats in Pondicherry Assembly polls is an ally of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) here. The general secretary of the Kazhagam C. Ganesh Babu told presspersons here on Sunday that the party had fielded one M. P. Veerammal in Bahoor reserved constituency and a young graduate in Cooperative Management S. Vadivel in Neravy Grade Aldee in Karaikal. Mr. Babu and president of the party A. B. Rajendran said that the party had entered into an agreement with the local unit of the BJP. The BJP has fielded candidates in 27 constituencies here. Mr. Babu said that the party was committed to its policy of according opportunities for women to participate in the decision making process through democratic experiments such as elections.
