MYSORE: Mysore University Private College Teachers' Association (MUPCTA) has criticised the Government decision to disburse the salary of college teachers deputed to pre-university colleges through the pre-university board. In a joint press release, MUPCTA president K.P. Vasudevan, general secretary Rangaswamy and treasurer K.P. Paramashivaiah said the decision to disburse the salary through the pre-university board was a counter-productive move. They urged the Government to withdraw the decision. When it bifurcated pre-university colleges from composite degree colleges in 2001, the Government had assured to re-deploy teachers of pre-university colleges to degree colleges at a later stage. While the government had promised to redeploy teachers to the degree colleges with in two years,It had also assured that the services would be protected and their salaries released through the Directorate of Collegiate Education, as they were appointed by DCE. Contrary to the assurances, the redeployment process had become slow, and around 1,200 teachers were still working in pre-university colleges. They said MUPCTA teachers would be forced to launch an agitation if the order regarding salary disbursal was not withdrawn.
