ANANTAPUR: The FIR in the murder case of TDP leader and former Dharmavaram legislator K. Suryapratap Reddy has no mention of the names of suspects even after five days of the murder. The FIR prepared following a complaint lodged by an eyewitness to the killing and Suryapratap Reddy's gunman provided by the Police Department, V. Venkateswarlu, lacks strength as per the opinion of legal experts. The police were reliably learnt to have filed the FIR even before the family members of the deceased lodged their complaint with them. The complaint lodged by Suryapratap Reddy's son, Venkatarami Reddy, has named J.C. Diwakar Reddy and J.C. Prabhakar Reddy as conspirators and J.C. Pavankumar Reddy, B. Pratap Reddy, B. Nageshwar Reddy, K. Maheshwar Reddy and S. Lokeshwar Reddy as the killers.
Glaring omission
The inquest report prepared by the police based on the statements of the kin of the deceased has only the names of Pavankumar Reddy, Pratap Reddy, Nageshwar Reddy, Maheshwar Reddy and Lokeshwar Reddy. Neither the complaint lodged by Suryapratap Reddy's son nor the inquest report has the names of B. Narayana Reddy and K. Pratapa Reddy, two key followers of Diwakar Reddy, who have been playing a key role in the rivalry between JC family and Suryapratap Reddy family since 1992. Persons named in the inquest can easily get away by establishing their physical presence elsewhere when the murder had taken place, some lawyers following the case explained.
Ultimatum to police
There will not be much of an impact even if Pavankumar Reddy is named as the first accused in the case, as the police did in their investigation so far, the lawyers said. The police are learnt to be on the lookout for Pavankumar Reddy too. But there is not much ground to hold him back with the case. Meanwhile, family members of Suryapratap Reddy, his son Venkatarami Reddy and his wife Kalavathi, have issued an ultimatum to the district police that they will go on a hunger strike if the suspects named in their complaint are not arrested within three days. They claimed that their father had rivalry only with the JC brothers and Bhogati Narayana Reddy has a minor role in their rivalry.
