MYSORE: The songs brought back the nostalgic moments for a large number of people who gathered at K.R. Circle in the city on Sunday. It was "Gayana-Namana," a programme to mourn the death of thespian Rajkumar. The programme turned out to be a memorable event for the participants.
Well received
Reminding the image of the icon, who had won the hearts of Kannadigas with his memorable songs, the music concert organised in front of the Dr. Rajkumar Dwaja Sthambha at K.R. Circle, was well received.
Popular numbers
If Gangotri Rangaswamy sang a few songs from popular movies such as "Bangarada Manushya," "Kasturi Nivasa," "Gandhada Gudi," and "Sampthige Sawal," the fans of Dr. Rajkumar forced him to render many more from the old movies of the thespian.
Chorus
Not to disappoint the fans, Mr. Rangaswamy rendered songs from "Kaviratna Kalidas," "Babruvahavana," and other films. The fans also joined the singer in chorus. Members of the Dr. Rajkumar Abhimanigala Sangha, which had organised the programme, distributed "prasada" to the participants on the occasion.
Tributes
Floral tributes were offered to the photograph of Dr. Rajkumar placed in a specially erected pandal near the Dr. Rajkumar Dwaja Sthambha at K.R. Circle.
