Official sources said the snow began at about 2 pm and was being experienced at the high altitude areas only, plummeting temperatures in the district.

The 13,050 feet-high Rohtang Pass was also receiving snowfall, hampering the snow-clearing work on the Manali-Leh road. Reckong Peo in Kinnuar district was also experienced mild snowfall in higher hills, which were engulfed under a thick cover of fog.
