HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at Jihrra in Mangalhat when two groups resorted to stone throwing on Sunday night. Five persons, including a girl and her brother, suffered injuries in the incident. Trouble broke out when a 20-year-old girl and her younger brother were going to a hospital in an autorickshaw when unidentified persons attacked them. When the boy tried to resist their attempts, the miscreants overpowered him and inflicted stab wounds on him.
Tense moments
The situation turned tense when the two from Indiranagar in Mangalhat informed the matter to their relatives and neighbours who, in turn, came to Jihrra and picked up a quarrel with the local residents. A heated argument ensued between them over the issue. In a fit of rage, the two groups hurled stones against each other. In the melee, the girl too suffered injuries. The police, however, brought the situation under control by resorting to lathicharge and dispersed the two groups. "Patrolling has been intensified and special pickets have been posted in the area ," a police official said, adding that efforts were on to trace the miscreants. The girl and her brother were admitted to Osmania General Hospital.
