HYDERABAD: The Central Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (CPDCL) has said that it was the responsibility of the Electrical Engineering Department of the Roads & Buildings Department to oversee the power supply to the entire Secretariat. Disowning responsibility for the power failure in the Secretariat on Saturday, the discom said in a press release that the Secretariat had HT supply at 11 KV from the APCPDCL. The onus for maintenance, rectification and replacement of the equipment, including the transformer, lay on the HT consumers and the CPDCL would not come in the way of replacement of the failed transformer. It clarified that Y. Linga Reddy was an electrical engineer of the R&B Department and not an employee of discom. The release said that a 500 KV transformer feeding the D Block in the Secretariat had failed on March 28. As the R&B Department was not in a position to provide an alternative transformer, the discom supplied one temporarily.
