Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 13,76,067 voters, representing 64.16 per cent of the total electorate in Thiruvananthapuram district, exercised their franchise in the first phase of the Assembly elections on Saturday, according to the final figures issued by the Election Commission here on Sunday. Varkala had the highest polling 72.18 per cent, followed by Nedumangad with 71.65 and Aryanad with 67.08. The three constituencies within the city recorded the lowest polling. The least voter turnout in the district (51.28 per cent) was in Thiruvananthapuram West while the percentage in Thiruvananthapuram East and Thiruvananthapuram North were 59.59 and 60.99 respectively.
