BANGALORE: A 35-year-old woman was run over by a car in the Devanahalli Police Station limits on Sunday. The police, who gave the name of the woman as Rathanamma, said she and her husband, Pillaswamy, were riding on their motorcycle to a marriage at Kaivara when the accident occurred. The police said Pillaswamy, resident of Kuluvarayanahalli near Rajanukunte, who was riding the motorcycle, could not avoid a road hump near Kannamangala Railway Gate and he and Rathnamma lost balance and fell off the motorcycle. Rathanamma died on the spot after being run over by the car, the police said. Pillaswamy suffered injuries. The car driver did not stop, the police said.

A truck driver died on the spot and its cleaner was severely injured when the truck collided with a tanker near Madapura on Bangalore-Pune Highway in the early hours of Sunday. The truck was transporting ginger from Sakleshpur when the accident occurred.
