Trains should stop at Krishnarajapuram Sir, The Railway authorities' decision not to stop Lalbagh and Brindavan Express trains at Krishnarajapuram has affected commuters. When the trial was on for six months, the response was good and it was convenient for passengers bound for Krishnarajapuram, Indira Nagar, Whitefield and other areas in the eastern parts of city thus avoiding the travel from Cantonment in the reverse direction. Daily commuters found it convenient to board Lalbagh Express to reach places such as Bangarpet. Hope the railway authorities will continue the facility. J. Ramakrishnan, Bangalore
Clean up Lalbagh Sir, There is some improvement in the condition of Lalbagh Botanical Garden after paving of side-walks, installation of garbage bins and display of notice boards as well as a map of the park. However, the rules against littering and smoking are not being enforced strictly. After weekends and public holidays, the garden is in a mess with paper plates, plastic bottles and paper strewn on the grass and elsewhere. The water tank in the garden that was cleaned up some years ago is slowly getting polluted. Periodic cleaning is essential. Garden maintenance employees have to advise visitors to use garbage bins and not to smoke or litter the place. The police patrol as well as security staff should be more vigilant. D.B.N. Murthy, Bangalore Government apathy Sir, The Kanteerava Stadium was modernised with track and indoor games facilities when National Games were held in Bangalore. The sad plight of the stadium today reflects the Government's apathy to track and indoor events for which the facilities in the city are poor. The Kanteerava Stadium is now used for exhibitions and entertainment. How can India shine in the international fora if this is the attention bestowed upon our athletes who do not have a modern facility for training? Would the Chinnaswamy Stadium be used for similar purposes?
H.N. Ramakrishna, Bangalore
Plant saplings Sir, Trees on the 11th Main Road, Jayanagar, and also on the 24th Main Road, J.P. Nagar, are termite-infested and may fall anytime. These should be cut and removed and saplings planted along roads. Many avenue trees are affected by termites. N.
