Changes in Land Acquisition Act sought

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Government should bring in amendments to the Land Acquisition Act to prevent exploitation of farmers by private developers, former MLA, B.V. Ramachandra Reddy, has said. In a letter to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Reddy said private developing agencies, in the name of development, were acquiring land from farmers cheaply.

These agencies later sold the lands at a higher rate. Farmers all over the State, including those in and around Bangalore, were being exploited thus, he said.

He said a special legislature session should be called to make amendments to the Land Acquisition Act.
