MADURAI: At a time when its interim award is yet to be implemented, the decision of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal to appoint a three-member expert committee to go into the crop pattern and water requirements of the four riparian States will mean justice denied for Tamil Nadu, Union Minister for Programme Implementation G.K.Vasan has said. He told reporters here on Monday that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa ought to have held cordial talks with neighbouring States on the issue to prevent such complications. The situation of Tamil Nadu having to approach the Supreme Court for withdrawal of the tribunal order would not have arisen if the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government had taken steps to prevent complications. Mr.Vasan claimed that the people had lost faith in the AIADMK Government and this would reflect in the results of Assembly elections. Later campaigning for the Democratic Progress Alliance candidates at several places in the city and Melur, Mr.Vasan said people should exercise their democratic right to "put a full stop" to the "autocratic" rule of AIADMK.
