THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The advancements in science and technology should be used for reviving and conserving the biodiversity of the State, Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology director K. Mohandas has said. Inaugurating the training programme on conservation of biodiversity at Agriculture College, Vellayani, on Monday, Dr. Mohandas said the younger generation had a vital role in the protection programme. The programme was organised by Kerala Agriculture University, in association with the Union Department for Bio-Technology, and the Centre for Environment and Development. Dr. Mohandas stressed the need for creating awareness among the youth about the significance of protecting the biodiversity and also the advancements in science and technology. Agriculture College Dean C. Sundaresan Nair presided. The former director of Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute G.M. Nair delivered the keynote address. Experts from various institutions offered felicitations. High school students from different districts are participating in the training programme.
