TIRUPATI: Summer is the time when children would want to keep themselves occupied, learning a new skill or honing an old one, having fun at the same time. Parents, too, would want their mischievous kids engrossed in some useful activity. Summer camps serve both purposes well and Tirupati has no dearth of such camps. Srivaari Kalakshetra, a dance and music institute, kicked off its summer camp on its T. Nagar premises here on Monday. Kids are being trained in Bharatanatyam, vocal and musical instruments like veena, mrudangam, violin, tabla and keyboard, besides painting, yoga, meditation and handwriting improvement. The organiser, Radha Suresh, can be contacted on phone no. 93936 00048 and 228 7505 for admissions. Bodhi, an organisation working for improvement of children's talents, plans a 10-day summer camp from May 5 to 14 at Hasthakalaramam (Urban Haat) where children in the 9-15 age group will be trained in dance, music, yoga, trekking, drawing and painting, clay toy making and swimming for Rs. 300. The fee for accommodation-cum-training is Rs. 2,000. Details can be had from N. Rajeswari (Tirupati) on phone no. 93936 07938 and 94414 07992 and V. Mohana Kumari (Chittoor) on 94400 46633. G.V. Raju Tennis Club trains kids in tennis on clay courts at Tiruchanur. Already 50 students are practising.
