Special Correspondent
KOLKATA
: Campaigning for the third round of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, scheduled for April 27 in 77 constituencies spread across Kolkata and in South and North 24 Parganas, ended at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Electioneering, which was on a low-key in the beginning, picked up in the last few days. Among those in the fray are Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who is seeking re-election from Jadavapur, and five of his Cabinet colleagues. The fate of the former Mayor of Kolkata, who had left the Trinamool Congress to join the Congress, will also be decided.
In all, there are 485 candidates, and the total electorate is 12.5 million.
