THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city will be hosting two functions to honour film-maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The Malayalam Cinema Technicians Association (MACTA) would honour him at a function to be held here on April 27. MACTA chairman Sibi Malayil and general secretary Kamal said in a release here on Tuesday poet O.N.V. Kurup would inaugurate the function to be held at the VJT Hall here in the evening. Actor Murali would deliver the keynote address. Principal Secretary, Culture, Bharat Bhushan, film-makers Hariharan, T.K. Rajiv Kumar and K.G. George, actor KPAC Lalitha, Kerala Film Critics Association president Mannarakayam Baby and Trivandrum Film Fraternity chairman G. Suresh Kumar would offer felicitations. The function would be followed by a musical programme led by music director M. Jayachandran and singer Kavalam Sreekumar, the release said.
Retrospective
Meanwhile, Chalachitra Film Society is organising a retrospective and seminar on the films of Adoor. The retrospective will be held at Kala Bhavan on April 29 and 30. `Swayamvaram,' Kodiyettam,' `Elipathayam,' `Mukhamukham,' `Anantharam,' `Mathilukal,' `Kathapurushan,' and `Nizhalkuthu' will be screened.
Seminar
Filmmaker Shaji N. Karun will inaugurate the seminar. Critic V. Rajakrishnan will be presenting the main paper at the seminar.
