REMINISCING: Sarada Teacher, wife of the former Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar, having a look at the life-like image of her late husband at the wax museum at the Baywatch Amusement Park in Kanyakumari on Sunday.
Sarada Teacher fought to keep her emotions under control as she gazed at the embodiment of her life partner. Frozen in time, the wax model matched the late E.K. Nayanar in every feature. The former Chief Minister's widow had arrived at the Baywatch Amusement Park at Kanyakumari on Sunday to see the lifelike image of her late husband. She was accompanied by son Krishnakumar, his wife and children. The look-alike figure is one of the exhibits in the wax museum attached to the park. The model represents a smiling the late Nayanar in his trademark jacket worn over a white shirt and a dhoti. Ms. Sarada recalled how she had accompanied Nayanar on a trip to Kayankulam to visit Sunil Kandalloor, the sculptor who worked on the model. "We had promised to return when the figure was complete," she said. The wax museum, which was opened to the public in December 2005, has models of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, playback singer K.J. Yesudas, actors Madhu and Rajinikant and Mata Amritanandamayi.
