For his "unsavoury remarks" against the MDMK leader Vaiko

TIRUNELVELI: Cine actor R. Sarath Kumar continued his campaign for the second day on Tuesday in the district seeking votes for candidates of the Democratic People's Alliance.

He addressed a public meeting here on Tuesday, when he canvassed votes for the AIADMK candidate and Minister for Industries Nainar Nagendran, who takes on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Maalairaja.

Mr. Sarath Kumar said the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, who assumed office when the coffers were empty after the rule of DMK between 1996 and 2001, took hard measures to stabilise the financial position .

The DPA candidates would register a thumping victory in all 234 Assembly constituencies, since the Chief Minister was implementing far-sighted schemes and welfare measures for the Tamils, particularly for the poor rural women by creating several lakhs of self-help groups during the past five years.

The actor criticised the Union Minister for Telecommunications Dayanidhi Maran for his "unsavoury remarks" against the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko.

During his whirlwind campaign, he addressed the voters at Palayamkottai, Seethaparpanallur, Alangulam, Paavoorchathram, Surandai, Sambavarvadakarai, Idaikaal, Kadayanallur, Puliyangudi, Vasudevanallur and Sivagiri.

On Monday, he campaigned at Pazhavoor, Chettikulam, Koodankulam, Radhapuram, Vadakkankulam, Kaavalkinaru, Panagudi, Valliyoor, Ervadi, Donavoor, Kalakkad, Cheranmahadevi, Veeravanallur, Kallidaikurichi, Ambasamudram, Kadayam and Tenkasi.
