DHARWAD: Revenue and District in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar has directed the officials to take steps to ensure that all the five taluks in the district got uniform allocations with regard to Swarna Jayanti Swarojgar Yojana. Chairing a review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programmes of the district here on Tuesday, Mr. Shettar took the officials to task when zilla panchayat members complained of negligence and favouritism by some officials while implementing government schemes. The minister warned the officials against negligence in their work and told them that the Government would not hesitate to initiate disciplinary action against erring and indifferent officials.
Overall development
He asked the officials to attend to the problems of the common man at the earliest and take steps and put in concerted efforts for the overall development of the district. The minister directed the officials to ensure regular electricity supply to villages for irrigation purposes. The meeting was informed that the State Government has released Rs. 13 crore to the district for installing streetlights at villages and for rural housing schemes. Mr. Shettar took the officials of Pubic Works Department to task for not repairing roads in the district. Krishnaji Chauhan, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, said that Rs. 11.82 crore has been released to the district for the road works and consequently the road works have begun at several places. He said Rs. 6 crore had been paid to various contractors for the purpose. Gurumurthy Yaragambalimath, member of Zilla Kannada Jagruti Samiti complained that the State Government's order regarding the "Suvarna Karnataka Varshacharane" is not being followed by the government offices. According to the order every letter, circular and envelope dispatched from the government offices should bear the seal "Suvarna Karnataka Varsha 2006". But most of the offices are not following orders, he said. He requested the minister to take steps in this regard.
