COIMBATORE: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy said here on Tuesday that the aim of the third front his party had formed with the BJP for the Assembly elections was to carve out a vote bank that saw the need to protect Hinduism. This comprised people who had been voting for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, but were now unhappy with both the parties, he told reporters. These people should vote for the third front. Campaigning for the BJP, he said the state of roads in Tirupur, that fetched Rs. 6,000 crore a year through export of knitwear, pointed to the neglect of even basic infrastructure.
