DINDIGUL: `Personal rivalry' between Dravidian parties have prevented many development schemes of the Central Government reaching Tamil Nadu. Many schemes were pending owing to their personal vendetta, said Bangaru Lakshman, vice president, Bharathiya Janatha Party. Talking to mediapersons, he said 13 Central Ministers representing Tamil Nadu, a few were very capable, were not even allowed to perform as Central Ministers. They were reduced to Tamil Nadu Ministers. Unfortunately their energy was frittered away because of `petty politics.' They should be allowed to perform. Asked whether remarks of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on performance of Central ministers was right, he said she was right. Instead of fighting for the State in New Delhi, Dravidian parties have been fighting with each other. Funds for tsunami and flood relief had not reached fully owing to such conflicts. Whether election results in five States would advance Parliamentary polls, he said it was not ruled out. Congress might face big tussle, as many schemes in the common minimum programme such as reservation quota in private companies were on paper only. Commenting on Tamil Nadu polls, he said: "there is no wave but the people of the State, for the first time, are keeping their fingers crossed. They have lost faith in two warring Dravidian parties. Tamil Nadu has lot of potential for development but not utilised it properly. The irony was that main Opposition leader in Tamil Nadu did not go to Assembly for five years. He buried the democracy. Tamil Nadu politics has been reduced to personal vendetta, he said. Earlier, he campaigned for BJP candidates contesting in Dindigul, Athoor, Nilakottai and Vedasandur constituencies. District secretary A. Saravanan accompanied him.
