India's stand on Nepal criticised

Special Correspondent

COIMBATORE: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday criticised India's stand on Nepal. He said New Delhi should not be bothered whether there was democracy or not in that country. Instead, it should insist the Seven Party Alliance dissociating itself from the Maoist rebels as they had links with the Inter-Services Intelligence (of Pakistan).

Dr. Swamy presspersons that the question was whether an anti-India Government would come to power in Nepal or terrorists would take control.

Dr. Swamy said it was his "mission" to topple the UPA Government. The National Democratic Alliance, led by the BJP, needed only 88 more Members of Parliament to form a government. These MPs "are available" under certain circumstances.

In a statement, he said Finance Minister P. Chidambaram could not claim that the Centre had made a sizeable allocation for education. It was only 2.8 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product, far below the target of six per cent.
