Vajpayee greets Koirala
Diplomatic Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Tuesday congratulated Nepal's Girija Prasad Koirala on the victory achieved by democratic forces in the Himalayan nation.
"In this mission for building a new Nepal, you will have a historical role to play," he said in a letter to Mr. Koirala.
"Nepal is at [the] crossroads. It has to take a fundamental shift from its past and, at the same time, maintain a sense of continuity. I hope that under your wise and experienced leadership, Nepal will be able to achieve lasting peace and stability for a prosperous future," the letter said.
"As always, we in India shall stand by our Nepalese brothers and sisters, guided by our long shared history, culture and economic relations."
