SHIMOGA: H.R. Prasanna Venkatesh, eminent singer of Carnatic style, died here on Tuesday following a massive heart attack. He was 61. He is survived by wife and two sons. Prasanna Venkatesh who served as a music teacher at the D.V.S. Composite Junior College here, devoted himself to the cause of training his students after his retirement three years ago. He did a course in Sangeet Vidwat. He founded Vani Karnataka Sangeet Vidyalaya, where he taught music for nearly 40 years. He presented performances on many prestigious music forums. The Bangalore Gayana Samaj honoured him with the "Man of the Year" award three years ago. Founder of the Guruguha Sangeet Vidyalaya and a member of the Karnataka Sangeet Academy, Sringeri, H.S. Nagaraj, who learnt music under the tutelage of Prasanna Venkatesh, condoled his death terming it a great loss to the field of music.
