Jawan killed in encounter with Maoists
Raipur:
A jawan of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB), deployed in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, was killed in an encounter with naxalites in Bijapur on Tuesday.
After a search operation when the jawans were returning to the district headquarters, they were attacked by Maoists near Bhogamguda village, about five km from Bijapur town, police told PTI over phone.
During the gun-battle, Tupan Diwa was hit by a bullet on his chest, the police said.
Rushed to hospital
He was immediately rushed to Bijapur hospital, where he died, the sources said.
