Court orders CBI probe

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Ordering demolition of three unauthorised shopping complexes at Krishna Nagar in Shahdara here, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued a directive for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged nexus between the Krishna Nagar Station House Officer, Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials, and builders for allowing construction of the complexes between 1999 and 2005.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice S.N. Aggarwal ordered the inquiry on a report by the Court Commissioner, Ashok Arora, who alleged that the three shopping complexes had been built in violation of building by-laws in connivance with the local police and MCD officials.

The Bench directed the CBI to file a report to the Court about the progress of investigation within four weeks.
